Ipswich sixth form student tops national A-level Law rankings
Abiola Abidoye from One Sixth Form College achieved the highest A-level Law grade in the country for his awarding body, as the college celebrated results across all subjects.
Why it matters: The achievement comes as more than 680 students received A-levels with a 96% pass rate at the Ipswich college.
The big picture: This year's results featured both academic achievements and personal accomplishments. Thirty-four A-level students achieved A*/A grades in all of their subjects, while over 240 students achieved Distinction Profiles in their vocational qualifications.
Beyond the classroom: Students also pursued projects outside their studies.
Film studies student Katie Bennett earned a nomination for a national filmmaking award at the British Film Institute for her animated short Paperweight, which she hopes will launch her film career.
DJ Mudziviri, a Health and Social Care student, founded Better Youth UK, an award-winning outreach organisation helping teenagers turn away from crime towards opportunities including running small businesses and accessing mental health support.
Media student Harrison Mayhew-Kemp raised funds for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation through an ice bucket challenge in front of 100 staff and students, inspired by Ipswich Town legend Marcus Stewart.
The college's table cricket team secured a return to the National Finals at Lord's after a two-run victory in regional finals, while Frankie Rutson completed a 60km ultramarathon from Ipswich to Harwich, raising over £1,200 for Suffolk Mind.

He added: "Their achievements are not just measured in grades, but in the maturity, resilience, and ambition they now carry into the world."

The bottom line: The college's 96% A-level pass rate was matched by student achievements in sport, charity work and creative projects.
