Ipswich resident's six-month battle with Anglian Water over unfixed leak
Despite multiple reports over six months about a persistent water leak outside their Burrell Road home, one frustrated resident is still waiting for Anglian Water to fix the problem after engineers admitted yesterday they could find no record of previous complaints.
Why it matters: The ongoing leak on Burrell Road, near Ipswich train station, continues to waste what the resident describes as "many litres of water per hour" and has resulted in a build-up of rubbish and debris outside nearby properties.
The details: The resident has contacted Anglian Water multiple times since the leak first appeared, with engineers marking the area with blue paint on two separate occasions to identify the problem location. Despite these visible markers and repeated reports, the leak remains unfixed.
What they're saying: "They came out today and then rang me to ask for the job number because someone had been out before and they had no trace of the job in the system," the resident told us. "They could not do anything because they needed to find the person who did not do the job before."
"Hard to make it up," they concluded.
The resident added, "We have held a rubber duck race in the flow" - highlighting both the volume of water being wasted and their frustration with the situation.
The bottom line: Six months after first being reported, a water leak on Burrell Road continues to flow freely while Anglian Water engineers struggle to locate internal records of previous reports and site visits to proceed with fixing the leak.
