**Why it matters:** The Westgate Street branch, inside TG Jones (formerly WHSmith), closed on 9 June 2026 following the resignation of its postmaster, with residents directed to smaller branches in Fore Street and Carr Street.

**The details:** The new branch will open at 11:00am on Monday, 16 November, at Unit 5 Sailmakers Shopping Centre, Tavern Street, IP1 3BB.

- It will be open 09:00-17:30, Monday to Saturday. It will be closed on Sundays.
- Signage at the unit lists business banking, personal banking, bill payment and travel money among its services.
- Fit-out work is under way inside the unit ahead of the opening.

**Have your say:** The Post Office is running a consultation on the move, with comments accepted until Wednesday, 18 November - two days after the branch opens.

Residents can share their views on things like opening hours, local community needs, accessibility through:

**For context:** Ipswich MP Jack Abbott said in March that the Post Office "remains committed to retaining a main Post Office branch for Ipswich," and that there had been "good interest in hosting a new replacement branch." He added that he hoped "there will be positive news soon."

**The bottom line:** After a five-month gap, Ipswich Post Office is back in the town centre, and residents have until Wednesday, 18 November, to have their say on the new branch.
