# Ipswich men's wellbeing group marks 10 years with open day

**Why it matters:** Since starting as a handful of men repairing a rundown shed, ActivSheds has grown into a tight-knit community supporting men in Ipswich — including people living with dementia, young people with autism, and refugees and asylum seekers.

**The details:** Run by charity ActivLives, the group meets every Friday at the CRESS Pavilion. A core team of around eight members has built out a fully equipped workspace, complete with accessible workbenches for people with disabilities, shelving for project work, and rafters stocked with bird boxes and garden trugs.

**The bigger picture:** In response to growing demand, ActivSheds now runs a second session each week specifically for people who need extra support to build their skills and confidence.

**What's next:** The open day runs from 11:00 to 14:00 on Friday, 8 May, at the CRESS Pavilion, Halifax Road, IP2 8RE. Visitors are welcome to explore the ActivSheds facility, see the group's projects in action, and find out how to get involved.

**The bottom line:** Ten years on, ActivSheds is still doing what it set out to do by giving men in Ipswich somewhere to go, something to make, and people to lean on.
