Ipswich man charged with attempted murder after stabbing

Samuel Huggins, 55, of Station Street, has been charged with attempted murder following Thursday's incident that left a man in his 40s hospitalised with stab wounds.

The incident: Emergency services were called at 08:45 on Thursday, 26 May, to reports of an incident at a property on Station Street, where a man had sustained stab injuries. The victim remains in hospital in a stable but serious condition.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service also responded to a fire at the same location, which was quickly extinguished.

The charges: Huggins, who is known to the victim, was arrested at the scene and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He has subsequently been charged with:

  • Attempted murder
  • Arson with intent to endanger life
  • Threatening a person with an offensive weapon

What's next: Huggins has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court today, Friday, 27 June.
