Ipswich hosts first Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Twenty-five riders registered to take part in Ipswich's inaugural Distinguished Gentleman's Ride on Sunday, 18 May, raising £1,279 for men's mental health and prostate cancer research.
Why it matters: Orwell Motorcycles gave the global charity event its Ipswich debut, bringing the worldwide movement supporting men's health causes to Ipswich's motorcycling community for the first time.
The details: The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride encourages riders to "embrace a dapper style, often including suits, vintage clothing, and classic or vintage motorcycles" while fostering community among motorcycle enthusiasts and supporting important causes.
Participants dress in dapper attire while riding classic and vintage-style motorcycles through cities around the world on the same day.
The Ipswich event exceeded its £500 fundraising target by more than double. Dean Evans led the local fundraising efforts with £311, followed by Justin Green with £213 and Brian Eaves with £209.
For context: Orwell Motorcycles, established in 1983 and located on Ranelagh Road, has served the local motorcycling community for over four decades. The dealership is the main dealer for Suzuki, KTM, and Kawasaki, offering new and used motorcycles alongside clothing, helmets, and accessories.
