**Why it matters:** The free NHS health event gives people in Ipswich the chance to have their health checked, and to pick up advice and information to support their health and wellbeing, in the heart of the town centre.

**The details:** Health checks on offer include BMI, height, weight and blood pressure.

- People aged between 40 and 74 can get a free NHS Health Check.
- Those under 40 can use one of the machines available to help them check their health.
- Healthcare advice is also available, with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust in attendance.

**Who else is there:** Alongside the bus, charities are around the Cornhill for people to speak to, including:

- Macmillan Cancer Support
- Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity

Information on bowel cancer screening is also available.

**For context:** The Be Well Bus was launched in east Suffolk in November 2023, building on the Covid vaccination bus, which had "a huge positive impact on reaching those communities who do not access health care services in the traditional way".

It is a partnership between the former NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board and the NHS Ipswich and East Suffolk Alliance, working with voluntary and community sector partners.

The service focuses on reaching deprived communities, including people experiencing homelessness, Gypsy and Roma travellers, migrants and those facing financial hardship, as well as residents of rural areas.

**The bottom line:** If you are in town today, the Be Well Bus offers a free way to check your blood pressure, weight and BMI, and to speak to health charities, all on the Cornhill.
