The council's Community Support team has appointed Global Media to run advertising on a specific radio station as part of the Safer Streets 5 marketing campaign. The contract will run from 1 July 2024 to 31 March 2025.

Global Media was selected as the sole supplier able to deliver advertising on the chosen radio station as it meets the age criteria for the project's target demographic. After approval from the legal, finance, and procurement teams, the company received a direct award.

The Safer Streets project aims to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in targeted areas. This radio campaign forms part of the wider marketing efforts for year 2 of the project.

A council spokesperson said: "This contract is necessary to meet the delivery requirements for this externally funded programme of work. Global Media are the only provider that can deliver this specific piece of advertisement on the radio station we need to reach our target audience."

The decision was approved on 23 July and published on 26 July 2024.
