**Why it matters:** More than 400 people took on the 1km, 2.5km and 5km routes, helping to raise £23,000 to support patients, families and staff across East Suffolk and North Essex.

**The details:** Participants made their way around Christchurch Park while being showered with brightly coloured powder, before celebrating together at the finish. The event was made possible thanks to headline sponsors Castons Artlier Group, KLH Architects and John Slater & Haward.

Among those taking part were members of the Sheppard family, who came together to remember husband, dad and grandad Michael Sheppard and raised money for the charity's Time Garden Appeal. Michael died suddenly after suffering a massive brain haemorrhage caused by a previously undiagnosed aggressive brain tumour.

**What they're saying:** Nichola Whymark, head of fundraising, said: "What an incredible morning. Seeing Christchurch Park filled with hundreds of people fundraising, running and getting absolutely covered in colour was fantastic.

"But behind all that fun are so many important reasons for taking part. Families like the Sheppards remind us exactly why these events matter. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part, volunteered, fundraised or supported the event, and of course to our fantastic sponsors and partners who helped make the day possible."

**The bigger picture:** The £23,000 raised will support the charity's work across East Suffolk and North Essex, including the Time Garden Appeal, which will create a peaceful and private space at Ipswich Hospital for patients receiving end-of-life care and their families. Plans include a purpose-built garden room, designed so even the most ill patients can enjoy being outdoors.

**The bottom line:** Saturday's Colour Run brought hundreds of people together in Christchurch Park, raising £23,000 for a charity supporting patients, families and staff across two counties.
