Capel schoolboy slides into school as snow dusts the county

As this morning's frost made for an icy commute in Ipswich, a few minutes down the road in Capel St Mary, one excited schoolboy made the most of the lightest dusting of snow as he sled to school.

No snow in Ipswich: A yellow weather warning for snow and ice was in place across parts of Suffolk until 10:00 on Friday, but while temperatures plunged to below freezing, no snow fell in Suffolk's county town.

Yes, but: Just a few minutes down the road in the picturesque village of Capel St Mary, Harry Proctor made the most of the lightest of snowfalls as he hopped on the sleigh for the morning school run.

What they're saying: His father Andy said: "While only a light dusting, it was enough to get Harry to school with shrieks and joy all the way."

Looking ahead: The cold weather is set to continue, as the Met Office warns of potential icy patches on untreated roads, pavements, and cycle paths. Residents are advised to "Plan to leave the house at least five minutes earlier than normal. Not needing to rush reduces your risk of accidents, slips, and falls."

The bottom line: While the snowfall may have been minimal, it provided enough winter magic for at least one Suffolk schoolboy to create a memorable morning journey.
