The details: The 'Very Merry Vintage Street Market' runs from 10:00 to 16:00 across The Walk, Buttermarket Street and inside the Super Dry unit at Buttermarket Shopping Centre, with a brass band providing festive music throughout the day.

The event is the second vintage market held at The Walk, with vendors travelling from across Suffolk to sell distinctive items that cannot be found on the high street.

What you can find: Lifecycle Jewellery creates eco-friendly pieces from upcycled cutlery, transforming old spoons and forks into rings, necklaces and bracelets. Darling Vintage Clothing and Hayley's Vintage Wear will sell 1940s and 1950s style ladieswear and accessories, whilst Repurpose & Revival curates vintage furniture and performs restoration work.

Vinyl Chief returns with its popular vinyl pop-up shop, and Retro Realm stocks nostalgic video games, toys and board games. Other stalls include Bulldog Vintage's bespoke handmade lamps, Needful Things retro art, and Pinkie & Quirky Vintage Frippery's vintage pieces and antiques.

The bigger picture: The Walk, now decorated with festoon lights for the festive season, is home to independent shops including Threads for All, Mama Bears Cake Shop, a vegan cafe and a French bistro bar. Eyfel Perfume shop has recently opened opposite The Military Unit.

The bottom line: With handmade, vintage and restored items available to browse on the day, the market offers distinctive gifts that cannot be found on the high street.
