Two arrested in Ipswich after man stabbed in Stowmarket attack

Police have arrested a woman, 60, and a man, 26, following a stabbing in Leveret Gardens that left a man in his 20s hospitalised.

Why it matters: The incident sparked a rapid police response across three Suffolk towns, with suspects apprehended in separate locations in Ipswich.

The details:

  • Officers were called to Leveret Gardens, Stowmarket, at 11:00 on Sunday, 2 February, following reports of an attack.

  • The victim, aged in his 20s, is in a stable condition in hospital.

  • Police located a suspect vehicle in Norwich Road, Ipswich, at 11:35, where a 60-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

  • At 12:25, officers arrested a 26-year-old man from Needham Market at an address in Grimwade Street, Ipswich.

  • He was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

What they're saying: Police say it is currently understood that the victim and suspects were known to each other.

What's next: Both suspects will be questioned at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.
