Rock insider speaks to Suffolk Money Podcast ahead of Felixstowe Book Festival debut

Jenny Boyd, who rubbed shoulders with the Beatles and Eagles in the 1960s, will share stories from her candid interviews with music legends at this year's Felixstowe Book Festival.

Why it matters: Boyd's unique access to rock royalty – as Mick Fleetwood's former wife and George Harrison's sister-in-law – offers rare insights into the creative minds behind iconic songs.

The big picture: The former model turned psychology graduate spent years interviewing stars including Don Henley, Joni Mitchell and the Beatles for her book "Icons Of Rock: In Their Own Words", exploring songwriting, creativity and addiction in the music industry.

Boyd features on this month's Suffolk Money podcast, sponsored by Kingsfleet Wealth , where she tells host Kevin Burch about her journey from 1960s fashion to studying the psychology behind rock music.

What's next: The 13th annual Felixstowe Book Festival runs from 25-29 June at Harvest House on Cobbold Road, with Boyd joining esteemed authors including Rev Richard Coles and Esther Freud.

The details: Other highlights include:

  • Monica Feria-Tinta discussing whether planets can have legal rights (Saturday 28 June, 4pm)

  • Jessica Duchen on wartime pianist Dame Myra Hess (Saturday 28 June, 2:30pm)

  • Ben Chu exploring economic isolationism (Sunday 29 June)

  • Kate Weinberg's mental health novel "There's Nothing Wrong with Her" (Sunday 29 June, 12pm)

  • Julia Jones celebrating women sailors in "Stars to Steer By" (Sunday 29 June, 4:30pm)

What to look out for: Tickets have sold faster than ever before with some events already sold out, though places remain available for many talks.

The bottom line: This festival offers guests rare access to fascinating authors and unique stories, from rock and roll psychology to wartime heroism and environmental law. Tickets are available at felixstowebookfestival.co.uk and Felixstowe Library.
