Why it matters: The incident has left the village store with a damaged door, though the store remains open for customers.

The details: Suffolk Police said a man allegedly gained entry to the Co-op Foodstore by damaging a window with a metal pole.

The suspect then reportedly caused damage inside the store before taking cans of alcohol and vape juices and leaving the scene.

Officers swiftly responded to reports of a break-in and subsequently arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of burglary and theft just before 02:00. He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre, where he will be questioned by detectives.

A spokesperson for the East of England Co-operative said: “We can confirm a burglary took place at our Bramford Food store early this morning. Thanks to the swift action of our security team, who monitor all our sites 24/7, 365 days a year, police were called and dispatched, and, thanks to their rapid response, the suspect was arrested. The store was able to reopen as usual."

What's next: Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Suffolk Police quoting 37/66920/25.

The bottom line: A police response has led to an arrest following the break-in, with the village store able to continue serving customers while repairs are carried out.
