Ipswich Town legend hosts quiz night raising £1,578 for hearing dogs charity

Town legend Russell Osman led eight rounds of trivia at Kesgrave Community Centre, helping All About Hearing support deaf individuals.

Why it matters: The funds will help train and provide specially skilled assistance dogs that alert deaf people to important sounds like doorbells, fire alarms, and phone calls.

The details: Suffolk-based hearing care specialists All About Hearing  celebrated the success of their charity quiz night on Sunday, 16 March, bringing together 150 enthusiastic quizgoers for an evening of fun, fundraising, and friendly competition.

What they're saying: "We are absolutely delighted with the turnout and generosity shown by everyone who attended. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see the community come together for such an important cause. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People do incredible work, and we are so proud to be able to contribute to their mission," said Matthew Coward, Co-Director of All About Hearing.

The bigger picture: Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity that trains highly skilled assistance dogs to alert deaf individuals to important and life-saving sounds. These specially trained dogs also provide companionship and emotional support, helping to combat the isolation that can often come with hearing loss.

By the numbers: The night's fundraising efforts of £1,578 were significantly boosted thanks to the support of local businesses, including Ipswich.co.uk and principal sponsor Ginger Pickle Marketing.

For context: All About Hearing provides expert hearing care across Suffolk, with clinics based in Ipswich, Woodbridge, and Felixstowe. The team is dedicated to helping people improve their hearing health through comprehensive testing, and fitting cutting-edge hearing aid technology, as well as carrying out safe and effective earwax removal.

What's next: Following the success of this event, All About Hearing has already announced the date of its next Quiz Night, which will be held on Sunday, 23 November 2025. To register your interest, visit www.allabouthearing.co.uk/quiz
