Why it matters: The acquisition extends the Legal 500-ranked firm's reach from its Ipswich base in Lloyds Avenue to cover Stowmarket alongside existing offices in Felixstowe, Woodbridge and Colchester.

The details: Kerseys completed the acquisition on 2 January, with the Stowmarket office at 7-9 Tavern Street opening under the Kerseys name on 6 January. The former Haywards team will continue serving clients from the same location.

Haywards clients need to take no action. Wills, LPAs and deeds remain secure and free of charge.

What they're saying: Managing partner Kimat Singh said: "This is a positive step for clients across Suffolk. By bringing our teams together, we broaden the depth of expertise while maintaining the personal service both firms are known for."

Senior partner Jane Riley added: "Clients will still see the familiar team in Stowmarket, now supported by the wider Kerseys Solicitors network. It strengthens continuity and client care."

The bigger picture: Kerseys now operates from five locations across Suffolk and Essex, with its head office in Ipswich. Established in 1881, the firm is a Legal 500-ranked practice with Law Society accreditation in family law and conveyancing.

The bottom line: The Ipswich firm's acquisition of the Stowmarket practice continues its regional expansion while maintaining local presence in both towns.
