Why it matters: With 62% of people initially mistaking dementia symptoms for normal ageing, creating opportunities for open discussion can help families identify signs earlier and access vital support.
The big picture: Care UK’s Prince George House, on Mansbrook Boulevard in Ipswich, is participating in The Big Dementia Conversation, a nationwide initiative returning for its second year to help people better understand the condition and show how those affected can continue living meaningful lives.

The details: The free "Let's talk about dementia" session takes place on Tuesday, 25 February, from 10:30 to 12:30.
Angela Hodge, Senior Customer Relations Manager, will lead discussions about less commonly discussed aspects of dementia.
Topics include understanding behavioural changes and exploring support options.
Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
A new online advice hub has also launched, featuring family experiences and expert guidance.
What they're saying: "Awareness around dementia has come on leaps and bounds in recent years, and yet some hard-to-dispel myths remain," says Luminita Triff, Home Manager at Prince George House.
"While there's no cure for dementia, there are ways to prevent and manage some of the symptoms, which can, in turn, enable people to lead fulfilling lives after a diagnosis."
The bottom line: Places at the free event must be booked in advance. Those interested can contact Julie Dennis on 01473 852964 or email julie.dennis@careuk.com. For online support, visit careuk.com/bigdementiaconversation.
