East Suffolk employers offered new disability training service

Why it matters: Many employers want to support disabled staff but lack confidence about what reasonable adjustments to make or how to create inclusive workplaces. The Disability Advice Training Service provides practical guidance to help businesses navigate these challenges and unlock the potential of disabled talent.

The launch: The initiative was unveiled at DAS's anniversary event on 12 September, which brought together funders, supporters, staff and volunteers.

Suffolk Coastal MP Jenny Riddell-Carpenter praised the move, while DAS chair of trustees Graham Walker said the dedication of staff and volunteers had been "instrumental" in reaching the charity's milestone year.

The bigger picture: Over four decades, DAS has grown its reach beyond Felixstowe, with outreach now covering Saxmundham, Leiston and Ipswich. It continues to provide advice and guidance to people with disabilities, their families, and carers across the region.

What's next: Employers can contact DAS directly through www.daseastsuffolk.org to find out how the training can help their business create more inclusive workplaces and better support disabled employees and job applicants.
