Detectives granted more time to question suspect in Anita Rose murder case

Suffolk Police have been given additional time to question a man arrested in connection with the murder of Anita Rose in Brantham. The development comes as the investigation into the 57-year-old's death continues.

Why it matters: This extension allows detectives crucial extra time to gather information from the suspect, potentially moving the investigation forward.

The key details:

  • A superintendent's extension gives police 12 more hours to question the man in his 20s from Brantham.

  • The suspect was arrested on Wednesday following anniversary checks in the area.

  • Anita Rose died on 28 July, four days after being found injured on a track road near Rectory Lane.

  • The cause of death is still unknown, pending further tests.

The investigation so far:

  • This is the third arrest in the case, following two previous arrests on 27 July.

  • Anita's iPhone has been recovered, but her pink zip-up jacket remains missing.

  • High-visibility checks were conducted on Wednesday in Rectory Lane and on local public transport.

  • The Joint Major Investigation Team leads the inquiry, supported by regional and national law enforcement agencies.

What's next: Police will continue to patrol Brantham as they conduct further enquiries. They are still appealing for information about Anita's missing jacket, which is described as waterproof and possibly from the Regatta brand.

The bottom line: As the investigation progresses, police are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Major Investigation Team quoting reference 37/41580/24.
