DanceEast seeks young producers for youth festival

Six young people from across the East of England will have the chance to produce their own cultural event, thanks to a new opportunity from DanceEast.

Why it matters: YouthFest is designed to be programmed by and for young people, giving those aged 16 to 25 a paid chance to shape a public festival while gaining hands-on experience in event production.

The big picture: Taking place in November at the Jerwood DanceHouse, the event aims to reflect authentic youth voices and interests. DanceEast  is looking for enthusiasm and ideas rather than experience — the opportunity is open to anyone within the age bracket who lives in the East of England.

What they're saying: "It's a great opportunity for young people to develop real-world creative skills while having a genuine say in what the event looks like," said Jemma Howard, Marketing and Communications Manager at DanceEast.

The details: Successful applicants will:

  • Collaborate with DanceEast staff and fellow young producers

  • Learn how to design, plan and deliver a live event

  • Commit to the project between May and November 2025

  • Be paid for their time

The bottom line: This is a chance for young creatives to shape something exciting for their peers and gain valuable experience in the cultural sector.
