Why it matters: The closures will affect a busy stretch of the A12 near Ipswich, with drivers facing diversions between the Capel St Mary interchange and Bentley Logwood interchange during evening and overnight hours.
The details: Work begins on Monday, 8 September, and will take place between 21:00 and 05:00 each night. The improvements include resurfacing, refreshing road markings and replacing worn road studs on the southbound carriageway.
What's happening when: The project will be carried out in two phases with different diversion routes:
During the first phase, the junction 32b southbound entry slip road will be closed. Drivers will be diverted northbound via the Copdock interchange to rejoin the A12 southbound.
When the main A12 southbound carriageway is closed between junctions 32b and 32a, drivers will be diverted at junction 32b onto Ipswich Road, where they can rejoin at junction 32a.
The bottom line: The overnight closures are designed to minimise disruption to daytime traffic while National Highways carries out essential maintenance work on this stretch of the A12 near Ipswich.
